“The harvest is plenty, but the laborers are few.” – Luke 10:2
As Catholics, especially the laity, we are called to actively participate in proclaiming the Gospel. There are numerous souls thirsting for God, and if we fail to reach them at the right time, they may be led astray by various cults, sects, and fundamentalists. When we answer the call to evangelize, we cannot afford to waste time dilly-dallying or being overly concerned about our day-to-day lives. Instead, we must place our trust in the power of God, who is our ultimate provider.
“Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.” – Luke 10:3
As the Lord’s lambs and His flock, we venture into a world where spiritual warfare is ever-present, and we must be prepared for it. Sadly, some wolves have infiltrated the Catholic Church, leading many Catholics astray by sowing disunity, encouraging disobedience to authority, and promoting unchristian behavior.
So, how do we embark on our call to the new Evangelization? If we firmly believe that God is our strength and provider, and that He will stand by us even in the face of powerful enemies, then we must be ready to move forward, even if we find ourselves alone in this mission. Our God depends on each one of us, so it becomes our responsibility to respond wholeheartedly to His call.
In unity and unwavering faith, we can overcome the challenges of evangelization and bring the light of Christ to those in need. Let us trust in God’s guidance and depend on His grace, for in doing so, we can be effective laborers in the bountiful harvest of souls, ensuring that none are lost and all are brought into the loving embrace of our Savior.
Christian families are missionary families, in their everyday life, in their doing everyday things, as they bring to everything the salt and the leaven of faith!
